Hama beads are one of my obsessions, and lately I've been making figures based on video game sprites from the Super Mario games.  Using a few of these I made a mural of sorts.  I stuck them on with double sided tape.  The pictures are a bit crap as the lighting's not great, but I  just finished and couldn't wait until morning.

It's-a me, Mario!

The ikea brochure in which I live (together with the ultimate in scandinavian design...my very own scandinavian) with swanky new mario wall art...

Let me know what you think, guys.  I'm pretty excited about it Smiley

Wow that is so cool! Did you just do it on regular Hama boards? Did you use a ready made pattern for them?

Yeah, I just used normal boards to make them.  I used the original pixel images from the games (the character images from video games are called sprites if you want to google them, just google mario sprites or something) as patterns.  They look great in hama beads, as 1 pixel = 1 bead.  I simplified some of the designs a little as to colours etc, though, but followed the original images pretty closely.

Glad you like them, guys!

By the way, I did something similar here with Leisure Suit Larry, but using a screenshot from the 80's game as a pattern:

Cooool!  I especially love that you did some lesser-known characters, instead of just the biggies.  Like that cloud dude on the upper left dangling the mushroom.  Love!

i totally clicked the "this rocks" button on this!  Leah and the powers that be are probably going to ban me from using that, because i think everything rocks, but that's beside the point.

mario is my favorite nintendo game!  do you mind if i borrow this idea for my nursery?  i'm pregnant right now, and if it's a boy, i'd LOVE to do this all over the nursery..

good job!
