I think the origami idea is great - I also received a pair of earrings in a box made from an old greeting card - if the calendar is a decent weight stock, I bet you could do that. Also, Megan has a great idea here for old calendars, magazines, etc.

Tealights, hmmmm ... have to think on that one! I've let my kids use them to cut out playdough shapes, but other than that ...

UPDATE - same idea, slightly different direction - looks great!

Thanks so much for all those ideas! I really like the marble magnets and origami boxes - below is a photo of origami boxes I made from an old Simpsons calendar - the lid is made from the main cartoon and the base from the area with the dates on - sorry about the poor quality picture!

I've just read the pincushion idea - which is fantastic - I'm off to try that out now!!! Thank u!!! Smiley

RE: recycling the spiral binding - if it's metal/wire, you could use them as hangers for rustic style Christmas ornaments, instead of thread, string, fishing line, etc. I have a cute wooden ornament that is a snowman, and it hangs from a curly wire that is supposed to be the connection between his two earmuffs!

cit the picture side of the calenders off and frame them then you a can hang them all together and make a nice wall of theamed prints.  the tea light cups are good for holding beads or small parts.

you could punch holes in the bottom of them (where the wick sits) and spray paint the whole thing different colours and make a wind chime. add beading under each one so they sit upright. i have no idea if theis is making any sense to any one but..

Does anyone have ideas for calenders with really large photos?

I have 2 pug calenders (they were my mom's and my brother's from last year) and I have no clue what to do with them. The photos are really big... so the oragami boxes probably wouldn't look too good.

I also have a bunch of free calenders that charities sent us... they are all wild animal themed.
