Beautiful! How'd you make the necklace? I'd wear that even if it weren't Halloween.... all of it.  Wink

I think the general concensus is that the necklace rocks.  It ties in so wonderfully and is waaaaaaaay better than body paint.  I admire your sewing skillz.  I go a little wonky being on the sewing machine after a time.

Your costume is beautiful!  Very clever with the necklace, I thought it was paint until I read your post.  I hope to make something as elaborate and beautiful someday  Smiley

Thanks all!  I started working on this the last week of July, and about forty five hours of work went into the dress and underpinnings.  The wig and jewelry were another four or so.  I have to say I'm proud of this one - it is by far the most complicated and intense costume I've ever, ever made.  There are more pictures on my blog:
http://www.becomingmarieantoinette.com

The necklace was a one yard piece of 1/4" red satin ribbon.  The blood droplets are just bead fringe, with firepolished crystals at the end.  The legend was written on in silver gel pen, in my very best penmanship.  It ties in a tiny bow in the back, and the ends trail.

I dyed the feathers with ordinary RIT dye, prepared double strength with boiling water.  I let them soak for about twenty minutes, rinsed them well, and used a hairdryer to restore the loft.

There you have it.  I thoroughly enjoyed this one, and I'm glad you did, too.

Beautiful dress! Did you wear it to a costume party? I hope you get to use it a lot, and display its gorgeousness to the public. Wink
