Just so you guys don't think all my work turns out like something a first grader gives to their grandparent, here are pics of two of my past ghans:

For my ex's cousin's graduation (her fave color is pink).  It was my first time doing front and back post work.  After the two rows, it made me really pause and wonder if I *really* want to do a "basketweave" blanket.  That's a tedious stitch!

My fave was a blanket that I did for my friend that takes care of my horse in Colorado.  Her fave color, like mine, is dark purple.  I used worsted weight purple and white, then to add a difference in texture and contrast in color, I put in Simply Soft teal.  It was really neat how it turned out--the pictures, taken with a camera phone, don't do it justice.  I met up with my brother unexpectedly and showed him the blanket.  He and his girlfriend (now wife) fell in love with it, so I gave it to them and told myself I would make another one for the friend in Colorado.  I haven't gotten around to making another  Undecided  One of these days...

I like both of them. The pink and black one is very cute.
