it was my friends birthday in july we are both obsessed with anything burlesque along with some other friends (we love dressing up and going to burlesque shows) so i decided to make her a burlesque box of goodies.
this isnt exactly a tutorial but ill explain best i can...
so i had this old box with some material covering the top
i took the material out and painted the whole thing with black arcrylic and printed out this great bettie page magazine strip, glued it onto some thick card and fixed it onto the inside of the box so you could see the picture through the 'window' and painted the back of that then printed out another picture or bettie and put that on the inside of the lid. then i covered it in a sorta decupage (sp?) gloss, i think you call that mod podge in the U.S. so it was a nice shiny black box!
onto the nipple pasties, they are quite simple, i dont know why all the shops charge so much!!
i used some felt, some lovely pink/purple sequins on a string and fabric glue (i tried it with the glue gun and it was a mess and didnt stick great so fabric glue is the way to go!)
i traced around a spray oil can and cut a triangle in it (so it looked like a pac man) then glued it together, starting at the top of the cone i spread the glue down enough for a couple of rows then pressed the sequins down onto it, slightly overlaping swirling all the way round then added some more glue and repeated until i came to the end, i left about 2cm of the sequins and glued that to the inside. since the felt was a bit wet from the glue i made sure they were still in the right shape and then left them to dry. here they are
then i downloaded some funky burlesque tunes including songs that were used at some of the great burlesque shows we were at (aaaah memories!!) heres the cd cover i made
i wrapped them up in pink tissue paper along with some nice incense and i found and old box that held a ring, it had a see through plastic lid, was pink and closed with a magnet and it was just the perfect size for the pasties (im chuffed at finding it, woo!) but no piccies of it.
she loved it, yay! thanks for reading, i probably rambled on a bit so congratulations for getting this far haha!!
im happy with the way my first pasties came out i cant wait to make some more!!
i'd be very grateful for any comments
