Schmancy, Nancy and Fancy+Pants Present Plush You!, a Showcase of Plush Toys

Seattle Back in 2005, Kristen Rask; owner of toy shop and art
gallery Schmancy in downtown Seattle, curated "Plush You!," a public
showcase of the DIY plush toy phenomenon. Following a second
successful Plush You! in 2006, f+w publishing signed Kristen up to
create a book highlighting the popular Plush You! shows and the
movement's innovative artists. The forthcoming book includes toy
tutorials so that readers can take a swing at crafting their own plush
creations.  With the book arriving in October, we anticipate 2007's
Plush You! to be the best yet and the most comprehensive display of
plush craft ever.

In light of the proliferation of handmade, limited release plush toys,
2nd Avenue shops Schmancy, Nancy and Fancy+Pants will display pieces
that reflect this niche art's growing following and collectability.
Over 100 artists have contributed their plush goodness to this year's
show including Aranzi Aronzo of 'The Cute Book' fame, Heidi Kenney
(mypapercrane.com), LittleOdd Forest (forestprints.com) and Made by
Moxie (madebymoxie.com).

Rask remarks, "With the growth of the DIY phenomenon and the toy
movement in general, plush art is sophisticated, as well as cute and
whimsical.  It has been a great honor to be involved in this community
and I am confident that this year's show will definitely attest to the
plush movement's creative genius." Each artist participating in this
year's show submitted up to three pieces for display and sale. The
show runs through November 9th.

The opening reception will be held at Schmancy, Nancy and Fancy+Pants
on October 12th from 5 pm to 9 pm. Plush You! artists from all over
the country will be in attendance.
