I might join you guys sooner than I thought! I went to Joanns yesterday to score some coupons to use at my lys. This particular one had just been remodeled so it had special coupons. So I got one for 15 dollars off any purchase of 50 or more which can be used in conjunction with other coupons and I have a 10% off entire purchase coupon too. Hello Noro.

Wait a minute--your yarn shop takes Joann coupons?

Lucky! I've heard of LYSs who take Michael's and Joann's coupons but mine don't!

Ya I'm pretty lucky in that respect. I guess stores just have to be big enough? An instructer in a class I had there told me about it. I said I couldnt afford some book she recommended and she told me just to go get a micheals 50% off coupon and use it. She said thats what she does all the time. Just goes to show that not all craft stores are pushers. I've heard some horror stories here on crafster!

A LYS near me will do the same thing. I was talking with the owner one day and she was saying that with the popularity of knitting/crocheting the acrylic so-called "cheap-o" yarns have come a very long way. She said she talked with a lot of friends who would say they wanted to use the good yarn, but when they could get 50% off something similar at Joann's why spend the extra money? So to stay competitive she started taking coupons. Pretty smart, really! Grin

Ok so I just bought 6 balls of Noro Silk Garden in 211 with my coupon they retail there for 9.80 something and with my coupon I ended up spending 49.00. Still more than I would spend on myself, but every bit helps, and damnit Im worth it! The lady at the store also stashed the other 2 skeins I couldn't afford in the back so nobody would purchase them and I could get them later  Grin I have a few papers and things to do for finals so I wont be able to start right away, but I've got the yarn so its a sure thing. Heres a random pic I found so you guys can see all the beauteous colors!
Just curious those who are using silk garden what size needles are working for you?

I just "joined" this KAL yesterday but wanted to pop in and say I'm done and I posted pics on the finished objects board if anyone is interested. I don't want to be a post-hog by posting twice!

I did try 5.5mm before, the sts are too loose . so, I use 4.5mm for noro kureyon, I guess silk garden use the same. The size of the stole came out almost the same as the pattern call for. I'm at my 9th ball now, and the size will be bigger that the original after block.

Grrr Im so retarded! I was looking at the finished LE's and realized how many squares there were width wise. When I took a look back at my pattern I realized it was an entrelac stole from the wrong book! I have one from Knitted Shawls, Stoles, and Scarves by Nancie W. Wiseman! The only real difference I noted was the width obviously and the ends are pointed instead of flat.  Regardless I've already requested Scarf Style from my local library so I should be getting it w/i a few days.

SlickMariaVic I love the colorway you chose. That'll be very, very pretty. Smiley

I just joined ball #5!

Give you an idea how long it's getting. Grin

(a couple of the blocks look a little funky in the picture but it must be the way I'm holding it because they look fine when I lay it down. /shrug
