Huzzah, my yarn will be here Friday (tomorrow, technically, but I won't be here >_<)! So I will be casting on as soon as I get it! Soooo excited! Cheesy

ok....so now I have the pattern, and I'm hoping that this is easier than it looks.  maybe I just need to start it and see what happens?

I hate reading a pattern and feeling like an idiot.  Please...someone make me feel better and tell me that it's easier than it looks.

also, my boyfriend saw me reading the pattern with a wrinkled brow and said, "you know, you don't have to stress out over a present for my mom.  it looks like your head is going to explode."

so I feel better knowing that he doesn't expect me to make her anything.  maybe I'll make it for myself, instead! hahaha!

i figured that's what would happen anyway...i always read the pattern, freak out, and then just pick it up and start and have no problem at all.

I think this is a gorgeous pattern, but I just can't justify making it for myself right now. Hmmmm.....who on my gift list would love this? If I can figure that out, then I may just have to buy the supplies and the book and cast on!

Some kind neighbor was home today to sign for UPS, so I have my yarn! It was a little costly (little cheaper than Noro, but more expensive that SWS), but it is soooooo soft.

Edited to say:

I cast on a couple hours ago and I am through two of the pattern "tiers". At first I was a little confused and worried I was doing it wrong, but sure enough once you start working it and it starts to take shape it totally makes sense! *victory dance!*  Grin

I bought 11. But you could just buy a few and get started, then buy more until it's big enough.  They dyelots might not match but I'm not sure that matters for this.

Michael's takes Jo-Anns coupons so you could actually but it one ball at a time and save 40%....

I doubt dyelots would matter for this pattern. So far I am discovering this pattern is VERY forgiving for minor flubs and/or slight color variations. I will post a pic tomorrow -- hopefully I'll be a little further along. Grin

I'm thinking of making this using Classic Elite Desert in color 2015

http://yarn.com/webs/0/0/0/0-1001-1294-1323/0/9/2868/

Has anyone used this yarn?  I just adore the colors.

I want to wait until WEBS gets more stock of that color in, so I can get the discount... but when they do I'll join in here.  They all look fabulous so far!
