i finally got around to looking at the new knitty, and this was the exact project i wanted to make next...so thanks for the inspiration.
also, i didn't think i had any yarn on hand - and nooo money to buy anything new - but when i saw creatingme's noro, i remembered that i have a bit here...i hope it will be enough.
here's a pic, and i'm ready to start (i just have to move my work out of the way first)

hey...
where did everybody go?   Huh
maybe you are all so busy knitting, that you don't have time to show off your progress!
well...
i've almost completed one half...

here it is a little closer...

i like it a lot so far, but i am curious to see what the size will be like - i don't exactly see it fitting around my hips...so maybe it will just be a poncho.
i really want to see some of yours...so please post some pictures!

How long did it take?  I might be able to bang one out while my Mom visits to take back to my cousin in Costa Rica.  This would be cute on her and I think she might like it.  No need for really heavy stuff there at all.

I started but it was my first experience with "ssk" so when I finished the first piece, it didn't look right at all. I was slipping 2 and knitting the 3rd, lol. I've got it figured out now, have to make sure i"m doing the dyo correctly too. I'm using an acrylic yarn-white with silver wrapped around it for a fun holiday accessory! I joined the yahoo group too.

Because of the yarn shortage in the middle, I really don't know exactly how long it took me. That, and the fact that it fell off the needles at one point so I had to rip back about 5 rows of eyelets (and I knit it in the round, so that's really like 10 rows of eyelets!) Maybe 3 weeks of off and on knitting? Maybe?

fl_mariposa...that sounds lovely! It really is a festive kind of piece. And it makes you shake your hips while you walk even if you don't mean to. Makes you feel sassy.

Elisha...yours is looking great...I love the stripey effect. (gosh, I love Noro)

Three weeks!?!  Yikes.  I don't have that much time.  Hmmmmm.   Must come upwith something to make.  My cousin (actually like my second cousin or something) is developmentally disabled and although she is 15, she is still very much a little girl.  I want to make her something cute but not so mature that she'll hate it.  PM me any ideas!  Thanks!

wow, RenaissanceGrrl, yours is great! it looks perfect - fits hips and shoulders...well done!

i just tied on the last of the fringe...and here it is!

i also like it this way:

and the skirt:

phew! i really thought it wasn't going to fit. i made the smallest size. i am actually going to give it to my sister-in-law for her birthday (if i can have the self-control to give it up, because i really love it) i'm crazy about the noro stripes and feel also!

anyway, booglass, it toook me a couple of weeks, but i was working on other things as well...

Elisha, it looks lovely. I'm thinking about making one for myself. But I have a question regarding the yarn. I have some Noro at home, as a ball it looks a lot like yours, but when I put it on needles it's much thicker. Which kind of Noro did you use?
