I think pumpkin carving is the greatest craft of Halloween!  Especially when you get together with friends & have some fun with it. It's easy & you can get as creative as you want.  I'll start by sharing the ones me & a few friends made this weekend.....

this one is mine.  i saw a pattern for the cheshire cat but ended up drawing it freehand.  i think it came out pretty spiffy.

and my husband was loosely inspired by MF Doom...

my best friend based her's off of an old Indonesian mask...

and her husband's is my favorite though i don't know where he got his inspiration from...

So i showed you mine....now show me yours!   Grin

Those are so nice! I can't draw, so I always end up using the patterns from the store, but I'll post after I carve (tonight is FINALLY carving night!)

Lady Dee, what frikken excellent pumpikins!!  Your cheshire cat is really frikken cool!  And I love your friend's husband's one too, very awesome!

Here are my husband's and my pathetic attempts! haha!  I came up with the big-eyed square mouthed look a couple of years ago, fell in love and haven't made any other kind of pumpkin since! Grin

I can tell you, Fall is composed of

1 part dead fish smell
1 part wet leaves
1 part arctic chilled air (not winter chilled variety)
2 parts crunchy walking
a pinch very cold rain
some apples you picked yourself
a few very still moments
a good deal of inner reflection

Does anyone know how to get carved pumpkin's to stay "fresh"? I'm carving one for work, but I don't want do carve it too early for fear that it will start to go soft and smelly..  Huh
