I have to admit, I've been done for a while. I just haven't found a chance to get a good picture taken. I figure if I admit it publicly, I'll feel guilty soon enough and get it done.

I want to see also!
I finished the 4th repeat of the body chart and I am about 15 rows from starting the arm steeks. (doing the 46inch) I figure I still have another 3 weeks or so on the body, and then off to the arms.

My needles came and I finally got stitch gauge using a size 2mm with the Rowan Yorkshire tweed 4 ply.
I can't seem to get row gauge though. What issues am I going to face if I have more rows per inch than the stated tension?
Will I be able to knit it with doing a few extra rows to reach the same measurements?
What do you guys think of my colours, any critisism welcome! It is such a long term project on 2 mm needles that I want to get it right!!
Sorry pictures are on my blog as I can't post piccies on here yet!

if you are getting more rows per inch than your sweater is going to be shorter, depending on how far you are off, you might have problems with the arm steeks being too small. What is the row gague supposed to be and what are you getting?

I am getting 36 rounds and it should be 33 1/2 rounds.
If I knitted the sleeves first would I be able to then work the steeks to the right size?
Thanks

ok so the pattern is written for 33.5 which gives you 8.375 rows an inch, your gague gives you 9 rows an inch, i dont have the pattern in front of me so i dont know the body specifications but lets say the body before the arm holes is supposed to measure 12 inches, your's would measure 11.13, not too bad
I would definitely make an arm first because its like an even bigger gague swatch and then you can work out any problems when you knit the body

Lindyloop, since you are getting more rows per inch than called for in the pattern, you may want to add length to your sweater. If you want to add, say 3/4" to the length below the armholes, then you would start your sweater approx 7 rows below where it calls for you to start on the chart.
Then to make the armhole depth a bit longer, work a few extra rows on the chart before beginning the neck steeks. If you do this, you'll also need to work the same number of extra rows into the sleeve cap.
Additionally, if you want to make the sleeves 3/4" longer, then start the sleeves approx. 7 rows lower on the sleeve chart.
One thing to remember, is that no matter where you start your pattern on the chart, the row where you start the steek on the armhole of the body should be the same row in the pattern as where you start the sleeve steek, so the pattern on the body and sleeves will line up correctly. Doing a sketch on paper and noting the rows you start the sweater and steeks would be helpful.
I guess I differ in opinion from many others regarding starting on a sleeve. I figure that the body fitting well is the most critical part, so I work that first. Then I can adjust the sleeves to work with any adjustments I make to the body (i.e. making sure those sleeves line up). As I knit my sweater, I noticed that my row gauge was 7.85 rows per inch instead of 8.375, even though my stitch gauge was on. So I recalculated which row I'd start my armhole steeks on the body. Then when I do my sleeves I'll make sure that the steek will start on the same row. And I'll make adjustments above that row in the sleeve cap and below that row to change the sleeve length. Hope that makes sense.

That explanation Moiraine is so clear. thank you. I had not even thought about which row to start on and how I would get the sleeves to line up with the body pattern.
You are stars on here!
