I have a great friend (who is currently a fashon design student) who is making a quilt for my MIL for her birthday.  I purchased the fabric, batting, and whatnot, and she's taking the effort to put everything together.

I offered to pay her for the time she put into it, but she declined.  But I would still like to get make her something to show my appreciation.  I do a lot of artsy/craftsy things (obviously, no quilting yet!) such as knitting/crochet, and mild sewing.

Which is why I'm asking here, what kinds of things would a fashon design student like to get, in say, a gift basket?

Whenever I do anything for my best friend (who is not crafty at all) she buys me wool because I love to wet felt it, but am too cheap to buy it for myself.  So what about doing that.  Buy her something you know she loves but doesn't like to buy herself?

Apologies to whoever were upset by my absent.  I was in and out of the hospital from December 2007 until June 2008.

My fashion student friend loves getting things like cool fabric, and since she's not a wealthy designer yet she likes little splurge items like nice soap, towels, magazines, and the like. And she can always use more bags. Smiley

If you want to make her something, you could do make a fashion sketchbook, maybe decoupaged with pics of vintage fashion sketches or old pattern pieces.

Or if you'd be more inclined to purchase-and-put-together, you could do a gift basket with fun findings and accessories, like buckles, rivets etc.

I always get my quilting friend assortments of fat quarters of quilting fabrics. Sometimes you can buy these all done up in a pretty package, or you might prefer to choose your own fabrics.

Or what about a really awesome pincushion? If she's a fashion student I'm sure she'll go through a ton of pins!
