Hello! I just spent the past few days putting together my octopus costume, and it's finally done! Horray! I don't really sew so I tried to make it as easy as possible for myself.

Went to Value Village and got the most basic XL hoodie I could find (ie not covered in logos and stuff).
Cut off the front pocket and cut up the front and back of it into 3 strips (6 total + my 2 arms) up to the armpit level
Turned it inside out and sewed them into tubes
Cut down the existing XL arms down to my size (with the help of one of my existing hoodies) & sewed those up.
I had to cut up a little further between the tentacles after sewing the tubes together so I could get back in the thing.
I also found this bumpy foam chair mat thing and cut out the bumpy foam bits for my suction cups and sewed those on. You could probably also use buttons or like actual suction cups or something.
The extra tentacles are stuffed with scarves and a hat ( I have a lot of winter accessories...).

I'd like to thread some fishing line through the ends of the tentacles so they all lift when I lift my arms, but I'll save that for later. Anyways, it was super easy, I'd love to see what the better sewers out there could do with this basic idea.
