Puamelia and I did a little pincushion swap of our own.  Look how spoiled I am!

These are velvet on the bottom, and weighted.  So lovely!  The buttons on them are perfect, and she even beaded and placed pins in the pincushion to accentuate the patterns!

Look how big this one is!  I'm so glad she made these for me... I didn't have any large pincushions, only the tiny bottlecap ones.  The small ones are fine for my small projects, but I always run out of pins on the larger ones.  Not any more!

Thanks so much, puamelia!

**Maybe we pincushion nuts can have a pincushion swap of our own over on the "real" swap board!  What do you guys think?**

I love that fabric!
I haven't forgotten ya'll, I just forgot to scan the pattern till a day ago. I promise it will get up and will have info on how I made it too. So sorta a tut. Smiley

I think a pin cushion swap would be awesome! If y'all want I can post a thread about it and see who bites. Smiley

That fabric IS gorgeous, isn't it?  I'm crazy for tropical prints.  I forgot to mention that she also sent me bunches of extra goodies, including hawaiian fabric and chocolate macadamias!

That sounds good, Eliea; if you want to post -- please do!  Even if it's just a few of us, it would still be fun.

Hi there!  Glad you liked your pincushions barbolot.  I feel spoiled too from our little swap.  She spoiled all of us - everyone got their own gifts- baby got an outfit with a very cute appliqu, husby and I got snacks, and besides the beautiful pincushions she sent a cloth shopping bag, an awesome record bowl and lots of ribbon to make taggies for baby.  Thank you again!

Here's my pincushions.  I don't know how to make these little guys, and I don't have any felt yet but there's some on it's way via swap. barbolot stalked my profile and came up with a jellyfish and ginkgo leaf.  Marvelous work!

Lilly-pad Pincushion pattern and Super Abridged Tut:

Ok you need two of the pin cushion piece and 5 each of the petals.
I used my machine and sewed the pin cushion the same way we've done the round ones. Leaving a smal space to turn. I don't think it's good to use the space between the bumps to turn as it's rounded and harder to stitch up. So use any where else on the peice.
For the petals I slightly overlapped and pinned all the large pices to each other and used a straight stitch on my machine to sew them to each other.
Then I made to long straight rows of stitches along the bottom a 1/8 of an inch or so apart.
I used these to gather the petals and make that nice cup like shape.
Then I stitched the last two petals that were not attached to each other to form a little petal tube type thing.
I did the same thing with the smaller petals. Then layered them inside each other using a button in the middle.
I did the same thing that whip-up does with her pin cushion for the veins on the large part. But Instead of in the center I was about an inch or so from the little dip in the piece. Then I fastened my thread off and instead of cutting just stitched it to the bottom of my flower.
Wha-La! Pin cushion!
If you have any questions feel free to ask. Smiley

Thank you so much! I can't wait to make one of these (not that I need another pin cushion, but it's too cute).
