Ok here's my latest that I made for a swap - she hasn't posted pics yet but already received, so I figure it's ok to show you guys. I love it - these are multipurpose: pincushion, swap AND stash-buster!

First one is the biggest. Top is cotton retro floral, bottom is purple velvet like my very first one.  I made the little tassel to match.

Second is same style but only 4 petals, hawaiian print fabric on top and pink corduroy for bottom.  Excuse the strange colored fingernail in the back shot - I used sharpies to color the batting/leaves on the bird pincushion.

Last one is because she liked birds and I was inspired by someone else's embroidery style.

These are gorgeous, puamelia.  I couldn't pick a favorite if I tried... I love them all!  Your swap partner is a lucky gal.

Cute!  I especially like the green thread on the left pincushion... nice contrast.

Oooh!  More lovely pincushions!  It has been ages since I've seen some new ones Smiley  Now, I'm inspired to make a bunch of them too!

I made another...I think I am getting better.  The first one seemed a little puny.  The second one I clipped into the seam and it made it smoother.  The Third one I clipped in to the seam and stuffed it REALLY FULL!  HERE IS THAT RESULT!!!!  This one is a keeper.

Great pincushions, everyone! Cool how the flower ones turn out differently.

Thanks everyone for the sweet comments.
I think you're right barbolot - I love the green contrast on mshanane's pincushion.
On the third one it's really neat how the round dots on the button echo the round dots that are the flowers.  Great job!  I love to see the different versions!  Smiley

So I decided to make some pincushions, but i did them a little differently...
I cut out circles the size of dinner plates, and ran tacking thread round the outside, and gathered them all up, sticking some felt covered card on the bottom for neatness. Also I used fine sawdust for stuffing. It makes a nice satisfying crunch when you put the pins in!

I like the one on the right best, it looks like a cake!

the bottoms.

Oh, those are fun! What a great idea to make them look like food! I may have to try making something like that with my next pincushion.  Smiley
