Here are two more I made from the petal pattern. The square one I like the idea of other shapes, and the black/tan one is reversable.  Smiley

Those are WONDERFUL HSG!!  I love how you did the buttons with the opposite fabrics!

HSG, I love the black-n-white pincushion!  Your button selection was perfect!  Isn't it interesting how our perspective of the button changes (white with black patches vs black with white patches) depending on the fabric around it?

And very nice attention to the pattern placement on the square one.  I haven't tried one of those yet but feel the need a-coming on. Wink

Oh, hooray!  I saw the original tutorial, made some pincushions, and then couldn't fiind the damn thing to post them afterwards.  Here is one front and back

This one was my second attempt.  My first was very wonky, and third was significantly improved but I haven't taken a photo of it.  I learned that one--I'm not so good at sewing a perfect circle, two--you have to really have to stuff the crap out of them, and three--I don't know how to make the closure of the stuff-hole look smooth.
I'd love tips and tricks from you fellow pincushion makers.  Criticism is fine too.  Thanks!  Anna

Hi, annacharlotte!  Your pincushion looks pretty good from here!  I like the front fabric choice; the bull's-eye effect is pretty neat.  And the button is very nice.

I have problems using my sewing machine to sew in a circle, so hand sewing works better for me.  I just trace a circle on the wrong side of the fabric using a disappearing marker and sew a small running stitch along that line.  After turning and stuffing, I use a slipstitch to close the stuffing hole.  I'm looking for a good online tutorial for a slipstitch so I can post it here.

Woot! I love pincushions Cheesy Nicole did a great job with that tute no? Smiley

I've made a gallery of some of the cushions I made, most are square shaped but if you look closely you'll see the one I made from that tute which started the whole obsession! lol

Yes, it's a fabulous tutorial and I kick myself for not hopping in on them earlier.  I had bookmarked the fabric gallery just for such purpose!  Thanks again for sharing the link! Smiley

I've cobbled together something that resembles a tutorial on doing a slip stitch to close the pincushion.  My knowledge of Flickr is minimal so the photostream is backwards (I'll know better later) but I was able to get the photos and descriptions in the correct order in the set.  Roll Eyes  Here is a link to the set with pictures and instructions for closing a turning hole with a slip stitch.  I hope this is helpful.
