Here's the lid to mine (hopefully I will be able to get some new needles before Christmas so I can finish it for my BIL)
I just wanted to go ahead and post this since it's (Link being on the lid instead of the controller) really the only difference between my case and yours, the rest of mine is that gray and then the felt inside is green...

Zelda.Suicide, your Link looks fantastic! I'm sure your BIL will love it. It looks really nice.  Link is one of my favourites!

Does anyone know where to put the hole in the back for the charger? I'm making my little brother one for christmas, and I don't own one myself, so I can't measure it out in person. I'm using a size 7 canvas as well, but with the chart as written I'm getting the right size (so far as I can tell). I'd like to be able to have a charger space, without clueing him in to my gift.

i have the exact same question as maryam.  i am going to attempt to make this as a present even though i dont have a DSlite on hand.  all i could find was the size 7 canvas, if somebody has succesfully made one that the DSlite fits perfectly in then could you pretty pretty please pass the dimentions for cutting the canvas on to me?  i, too, am curious where to put the hole in the back.

thank ya

This was such a lifesaver <3 I had nooo idea what to make for my best friend, and then I found this! I know he's gonna adooore it, no use in posting a picture since it looks exactly the same as the original. But this is such a WONDERFUL, awesome idea! I wish I had a DS lite just so I could make myself one. And I of course am giving you credit when my friend opens his gift.
