My latest crochet jewelry brainstorm creation: interconnected chain of crocheted cotton loops.

Pretty colors--kind of washed out though.  My Photoshop skills are less than nonexistent.

And the blurry action shot complete with scrawny wrist and watch tan line

Wow--I don't think I've ever gotten so many replies.  This actually made it to the hot new topics.  Confused me for a second when I scrolled down the page and came to my own picture!  (yes, things like this make me happy)

I have already made another one in autumn leaf colors--gold, rust, burgundy, green, and I'm making one in all blues since I pretty much live in jeans during the winter and I figure that'll match anything I end up wearing.

Purse straps crossed my mind, but I'd use something sturdier than embroidery floss.  The chains do stretch some and I'd be afraid the weight of a bag would completely stretch it out of shape.  I also thought, briefly, of garland for a Christmas tree, but that would take months.  The bracelet took about an hour and forty-five minutes and it's only eight inches around.

I slightly adapted the pattern from one in a book I have, but the basic idea is working a chain, slip stitch to make a loop, then work twice as many dc into it.  Then on subsequent loops, just slip the tail end of the beginning chain through the last completed loop before you slip stitch them together and continue on from there.

Okay, enough babbling.

wow, such simple idea but with endless possibilities for belts, pursestraps, necklaces... With some lovely soft and warm yarn this would also make a gorgeous scarf I'd say. Love your colour-scheme!

I was gonna suggest using this technique in a scarf, but 'irilab' beat me to it Tongue

That's so pretty and so clever - I saw one in a similar design but done with seed beads and peyote stitch and thought there's no way I would have the patience (or indeed the dexterity) to do that - but I love crochet and if you don't mind, might try one myself.

 Shocked

I can't believe it's that simple...I should have figured it out, but for some reason, I'm thinking "How'd she get all those loops together? They're made solid...."

Yeah, I can be dense at times Grin

Hmmm... what about (in a bigger yarn) making a pile of them, then weaving a sl st chain through the middle for the purse strap? The chain would help distribute the weight and make the rings stretch less.

NICE! I'd have never thought of a bracelet either. I've been working on the trinity granny squares, and they start with crochet loops. I thought about making a scarf but the bracelet is awesome too! It'd make a nice choker or belt as well!

GD is going to love this and I just happen to have some #10 crochet thread in black.  Hmm maybe black and another color so it stands out more.  I love making unusual things for her.  She likes the fact that it's one of a kind because their Grandma's can't crochet!!

Wow, somebody's been digging through the crochet threads.  Two years since the last replies until November '08.

There's a basic description of how you make the links at the bottom of page 2.  I can't locate the little book where I wrote down the actual pattern, but I'd guess I started with a ch 8, join to form loop, then worked 16 dc into that loop.
