Here are some travel candles I made from altoid tins to give as xmas gifts. I got the idea from a crafty site (can't remeber where, maybe here?)...I painted them with acrylic paint,  decoupaged with origami paper and after varnishing, used melt and pour soy candle wax.

Great job!! They are so awesome...I'd keep 'em in my car...my friend crashed her car in like the middle of no-where...and it was really cold, she was going to her moms for xmas. Anyways, she lit the candle she got her mom for christmas and YAY she was safe and warm until the cops and ambualance and junk came. Great idea, will definately try Smiley

You know what would be aromatic? Making them scented like the Altoid tin flavor. Anyone Have any ideas on how to do it?

sorry...dont remember where I saw this...just I had it saved in a file....havent made any but seemed kool.........

Altoid Candles

Altoid mints (in tin) any flavor

Candle wax

store-bought candle wick

Melt the candle wax on stove. remove from heat and immediately add mints to wax, stir, and pour wax containing mints into the empty altoid tin. IMMEDIATELY add wick. let cool overnight. enjoy.

Ok, I don't know how hot the wax you guys are using burns, but I once had a problem with a candle in a metal container.  (It was one of those smoke-away type candles, and was made of some kind of greasy wax that couldn't be put out with water, so it may have burned quite hot, but the metal was hot enough to burn  Cry my vintage Daystrom dinette's formica, fortunately only on the leaf, but still.  My stupid mistake, but it brings up a good point.)

Anyway, ever since then I've been very concerned about candles in any kind of metal container, since metal conducts heat so much better than glass.  Have you made concessions for this, or is it not a concern due to the type of wax?
