Why does it always happen... you're on a roll, everything is going beautifully, then whatever piece of technology you're using decides to stuff everything up?! In this case it's my sewing machine.

There is something going very wrong with the thread tension... the thread on the top of the fabric is just a straight line, I don't think it's going through the fabric at all.

I've tried adjusting the thread tension- both ways- and it makes no difference. (you can't adjust the lower thread tension) I've tried rethreading both the upper and lower threads, changing the needle, even winding a whole new bobbin and using that. None of it has made any difference.

It all started when the lower bobbin thread ran out and I changed it. The tension has been totally stuffed since then. I'm only new at sewing and am teaching myself so I have to try and fix problems myself without having any idea what to do, but I'm stumped!

Any suggestions?

make sure that you put the bobbin back in right it goes toward you and not away from you. that can make a disastorious ongoing problem and hard to figure out been there done that lol when i started sewing lets see dinasour years ago lol it happened to me spent two days trying to adjust tensions and everything else then my grandmother came over and that was the problem. was i relieved

Thanks! Smiley

I rethreaded the bobbin and it's behaving itself now. I'm not sure whether it was threaded wrongly or if the sewing machine was just in a mood and leaving it overnight fixed it. Quite possibly the former. hehe
