Amazing how many people love making original pieces of clothing! (even if a pattern was used!)  I am going to feature some of the items that I found to be fun, creative and fairly simple to make.  I might also feature something just plain awesome (I will be looking for your suggestions and comments to help me choose!).

Keep checking this thread--your item might appear here! To keep this current, I will be deleting older choices.

The fabric and the attention to detail really drew my eye to this piece. What is even more amazing is how young yet skilled this craftster is! I see lots of beautiful projects in her future!  MidoriMentality--what a fabulous job you did!
Check it out! (2/16/11)

OK--I am tired of drooling over the creations by member McAnaraks! It is time to show them off and give them the love they deserve!  Not only is this a recycled project, but it is also an art project, a sewing project and a make-your-own buttons project!!!

Read more at the link below...and be sure to look at the other posts as well!

I was stumbling around the boards when I found these awesome shoes!! They are so well done and they were made for someone else...I missed them when they were first posted but I think they deserve some more love!  Who knew shoes could make the entire outfit!  10/7/2010

With spring in the air, we all want to dance and enjoy the warm weather and the beauty of the outdoors...what better way to celebrate than to wear a colorful and fun patchwork circle skirt!  This one was made by Casey1201 for her swap partner pixieval.  Can you tell that pixieval loves her new skirt? I picked this Totoro hoodie because it goes to show that sometimes you have to struggle to get what you want! Hard work and learning through mistakes can still get you to your goal! What a fun post to read--goofs and all--and the end result is exactly what skullseamstress wanted!  Check it out! (4/20/10)

I love it when people find inventive ways of making clothing special and "one-of-a-kind"...I guess that is why we all love to craft!  I never knew that flocking existed--I mean, now I do and see so many ways to be able to use this technique...try it and please post your stuff...so cute and easy!(02/17/2008)

This is not sewn clothing but it was so awesome that I thought it would be of interest to every seamstress!  We spend so much time in our sewing spaces, why not add some more fun! I also liked her idea of making a spool of thread shape...hmmm..I love this! (02/17/2008)

It is one thing to go buy fabric and a pattern and another to dye your own fabric and make your own pattern...I love renegade girls that take chances and come up with beauties like this! (10/09/07)

I love how much fun everyone has making clothes for themselves, family members or friends.  Sometimes, we just want to make something fresh and new as quickly as possible so we take shortcuts.  Some people are just trying out their wings with sewing and do not yet have enough experience or technical know-how. And frankly, some people really are just not into technical sewing...perfectly fine with me!

However, for those of you who appreciate the finer details of sewing, the wonderfully inserted zipper, the excellent topstitching (craftydame is a master at this!)...the even hem, etc.  This thread is for you! Not looking for perfection, but exceptional work...

If you have mastered a skill, show it off; if you want help with a particular detail, please ask.  I am going to pick out my favorites as I see them.  I also want your suggestions if you are blown away at a particularly well-made outfit! If you are also a techno seamstress, please PM me, and I will consider showcasing your work!

Nothing says winter to me like a warm snuggy coat!  And this one is warm and stylish! You can see how well made it is, even when it is not made of the most expensive fabric!  But it looks expensive because of the wonderful details:  the topstitching, the pattern matching on the lining, the huge buttons, the princess seaming!

Read her story of how she came to make this coat as well....it is adorable and functional!

I had to look twice at this one--what a fun surprise to learn that the entire dress is topstitiched to look like a trenchcoat!  I was totally wowed! Isn't it too fun and beautifully made!? I swooned when I read that she hand tied the knots to not have ugly backstitiching!  Cheesy

For those who love lolita, this is a fabulous dress! The girly color, the girly details, and all of the frou-frou that makes it lolita is here in one very well constructed dress!!

I am impressed by the gathering in back,  and that the bodice was hand draped: a skill that more advanced seamstresses gain. It pays off with a great fit!

This might not be my style or yours, but, the construction details and expert sewing makes this a beauty!  Congrats on a gorgeous outfit! You are just too cute!

When I read that the spacing on the waistband was planned so that the motif would show up correctly in the buttonholes, I nearly passed out!! This careful attention to detail is what makes this project my pick this week! I know it is a kid's dress, but that makes it even more special since we all know kids grow out of clothes so quickly!  I hope that whoever gets it next will appreciate it!

To start off the thread, here is my first choice. I picked this because of the choice of plain, classic colors to show off the many details. Look at the placket and cuffs. The even hemming--the casing details...ahhhh.
