Following this link to a tutorial on WhipUp provided by MissMeshell waaaay back in April in the Ongoing Fabic Swap Gallery I finally got around to making one of these cute pincushions:

The tutorial is well written and very easy to follow, and you get a pretty pincushion in the end. Smiley  Can't wait to try this in different sizes!

If you try this, please post pictures here, too!  I'd love to see your creations. Smiley

Note:
There is now an official craftalong for this project

Hmm, I just had a thought.  I wonder how these would be to fill them with potpourri and use them as drawer sachets?  Maybe the fabric would be too dense to let the fragrance escape, though.

That's just what popped into my mind.

Sachets sounds like a great idea!  I'm sure this would work with just about any weight fabric.  It just happened that I had a pretty brocade remnant that I thought would look nice.

I made another last night that was smaller and only had six lobes and turned out very cute.  I'll post a picture this evening.

Oh Fidget...I just love yours!!  Looks so regal!  I used the same tut posted by MissMeshell.

Once I got started....I found it hard to stop as you can see!

I love this button...

This was just a fun one.  The VW material was used when I covered a chair for my brother who is a VW fanatic!

Oh, C'mon, loves2experiment!  Face your fear of small, sharp needles and give it a go.  It's not like you don't have fabric for the project, you know.  Wink Kiss

These pincushions make up really fast, even if you're handstitching.  Stuffing them seems to be the longest part of the process - assuming you stuff in little tufts and not in big, honkin' wads.

As for the pincushion being too pretty, aye, she'd pretty but she's tough.  Wink

Thanks ya'll.  I sewed my circles up first.  Then I watched the football game with my son while I stuffed and made the lobes.  And yep Fidget....small and not wads is the way to go!
