Once again I was amazed to be at a shower where no one else had made their gift.  What's wrong with these people that the prospect of a baby shower doesn't send them running for the sewing machine?!?

The mother-to-be was at the other shower (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=109317.0) where I gave a a sock monkey and let me know she had better get one too. So the plan was to make the monkey and a matching cap and pants set out of these:

But the jacket had some stains that wouldn't come out, so I went to plan B.  A quick search of my thrift store clothing stash yielded the perfect knit skirt with a cute print for a baby girl. I was able to use some of the jacket as the inside of the reversible cap.

And here's the monkey.  I didn't dare show up without it!

What a GORGEOUS sock monkey!  I love her!  Where did you find the cute socks?!?!

I am a sock fiend -- I buy them but rarely wear them  Now I can make little cuties from them!  Thanks!

Thanks!  Those socks came from Target, which is usually a great place to get monkey-quality socks.  But last time I was there the pickings were slim.  Kohl's also has a pretty good selection.
