Yikes! I forgot about this thread! I'm so sorry! Please forgive me!
Shocked I guess I just thought I dreamed of posting it

I really want to do this!!
I've never organized before, but I'm a very organized person, so I probably could if I read up on it.
Maybe co-organize?
When should we do it?
Would february work for you guys, with an early/mid march sendout date?

Appologies again, I feel stupid for overlooking all your awesome excited responses!

ETA I just hit the "notify" button so I'll never loose this thread again!! Embarrassed

Here's what I'm thinking:

Timeframe:
Signups:  1/26-2/1
Craft: 2/2-3/2
Send out: 3/3

I think a full month to craft seems appropriate since this art style is so intricate and elaborate.  A full month would ensure one really awesomely detailed item (or two of medium size), and maybe some smaller things.

Craft ideas:
I think the cool part about this swap would be that you could kind of ask for anything you want (within reason, of course!) and have someone craft it for you with an art nouveau twist.

Specific ideas:
Ornately decorated matchbook altars with little nude women/fairies inside
Items quilted with tendrils and flowers (bags, wallets, pot holders)
Custom stationary
decorated (jewelry?) boxes
hand made postcards/drawings/decorated journals
resin/slide glass pendants

Inspiration:
Think abundance!
organic patterns meeting geometrical patterns
flowing tendrils of vegetation
flowing tendrils of women's long hair
the female form
soft light
nature
intricate patterns!
late victorian/early modern
sometimes fantastic
the famous absinthe fairy

For some visual inspiration, google image search
Art nouveau
Alphonse Mucha
Henri Van de Velde
Aubrey Beardsley

This should be a really fun and creative swap! I'm sorry I probably won't be able to join it because I'm probably moving out of state around that time....

Have fun, hopefully I will be able to check out the gallery!

yarg! I can't organize till at least feb 6 due to the technical restrictions of organizing.

But I just re-read the posts--
kcfirecracker, would you be down to organize?
Is anyone else also interested?

Me wants crazy art nouveau swapping!

I'd be interested. I'm in architecture, so when I think Art Nouveau I think Gaudi, Mackintosh, and Louis Sullivan, turn of the century Paris Metro Stations, plus of course Mucha, Klimt, Beardsley, Tiffany, and Peter Behrens.

I think you could craft just about anything with an art nuoveau inspiration. And I already have lots of resources for a swap like this!
