It looks like such a quick project and so easy to take along wherever you go while you're working on it - Marley's Ghost knitted chain link scarf from Knitty!  Who wants to knitalong?

YEY!! - will buy me some wool this week - i think i'm going to get grey like in the picture (pretty adventurous, huh?).

i've never done fulling before. i'm still quite a new knitter but i'm pretty confident with my DPNs so i reckon this'll be cool as long as i can work the last bit out.

i'm really excited about making this - thanks for starting the post - hurrah!!

Yay, that makes 3 of us so far!

showmehelen, grey is a great choice because it will have that "metal chain" look to it.

Well if I wouldn't have started this knitalong, I'd abandon this scarf project for sure, because it's just not that much fun.  It's not as portable a project as I thought mainly because of using the dpn's.  I've been forcing myself to knit a link or two here and there while working on other more enjoyable things.  I'm also using chenille yarn instead of wool, so it really doesn't "give" on the needles.  Because it's not wool, it won't be fulled after I finish knitting it, but at least I like the look of the chenille when it's knit up.  Eight links so far and another nineteen to go, if I follow the pattern suggestion.

keep it up margarita miss!!
i started my scarf yesterday after it took me a whole week to find somewhere that sold 100% wool in a charcoal grey colour - i didn't realise it would be such a mission to find some!!

i have knitted 9 links so far and it's going ok for me. i have been hanging out with my friends whilst doing it and watching films, so it's been quite enjoyable as i can just get on with it without having to think about it too much. i find it a bit frustrating if i am knittting socially and i can concentrate on anything properly as the pattern is too complicated. I am probably going to keep knitting links until i get bored cos i think the scarf is going to get better the longer it is.

one think i have found is that my links appear to be quite a bit smaller than the ones in the pictures on the patterns and that's before they've been fulled...

i am going to start knitting the pocket creatures from knitty.com this week too.

i'll post some pictures of my scarf when i've done a bit more work on it...

It looks like you could make the scarf more portable by knitting some links 'stand-alone' and then joining them together with the rest of the scarf later by knitting joining links. That probably isn't a very good explanation...

Thanks showmehelen, that's just the encouragement I needed.  It always helps when someone else is knitting the same thing that I am.  Looking forward to seeing your scarf.  I love those pocket creatures - I may have to knit those soon too.

mooncalf, I know just what you mean.  The individual links knit up so quickly and that way you wouldn't have to move the dpn's through the loop each time you finish 7 sts.

WOO-HOO!!

Marley's Ghost scarf - done!
was going to post some pics of the bad boy "in action", but was feeling a little camera shy...

must admit i did get a bit bored of knitting this in the end, but i decided that if i didn't just get my act together and finish it, this project was going to go on forever. i am really pleased with the finished result and i think it was well worth the effort.  Cheesy

how's everyone else getting on
