My Little Zombie

My Little Zombie, My Little Zombie, I comb and brush her hair...I tie a ribbon in her hair...
I mean, what's left of it.
(If you are old enough to remember the original My Little Pony comercial, that will be funny. Otherwise, it will just be strange. Sorry.  )
Inspired by the upcoming "My Little Pony round whatever" swap, I present my humble entry:
MY LITTLE ZOMBIE

MLZ is formerly a "Secret Surprise Pony".

Re-rooted and re-painted (a lovely decaying flesh grey green), you can see her spine, ribs and leg bone sticking out. Her good eye is bloodshot and milky...

and she's missing one eye, too.

it's been really interesting watching the different entries show up.

it's gonna be a really hard challenge to judge.

this one is different than other (abiet AWESOME) entries i've seen.  i like that it takes a treasured childhood icon and converts it into a treasured zombie culture icon.  (are zombie fans a culture onto their own??)

anyway, this ranks up there on my list.  good luck

That is deliciously gross! I love the radiation symbol, and the little touch of still having a pretty bow in her tail.

Thanks.  My three year old son is really, really confused about what I have done to "that horse". I love zombie movies and I sure did love playing with my ponies back in the day. A perfect combo.

Thanks!  The pony originally had a big hole in her back, like these:

She had a secret compartment under her saddle that flipped up. I took it out and lined the area with air dry paper clay. I made each of the spine bones (and the ribs and the leg bone) from pieces of toothpicks covered in paperclay that I let dry and then sanded down. I then built up the area with paper clay and added the spine bones one at a time. More sanding, paper clay touch ups and then I painted it.
For the ribs and the leg bones, I actually cut hunks of the pony out and stuck the bones in. Her head was off so, I could reach inside, and that helped.  (How often do you get to say that??) I also cut out the section where her "eye socket" is and filled that with paper clay. It has more depth than my crummy camera can capture. I had a bunch of "the making of" photos but they somehow disappeared. I blame the camera gremlins.
Anyhow, thanks for looking and I'm glad you all like her! I'll probably have her up for a personal swap if anyone wants her when the challenge is over.
