I made this roll-up playmat for a friend, and now I have a couple people wanting to buy them. However, I have NO idea what to charge.

It's made of felt, all detailing done by hand. The back is lined with cotton fabric. Has a velcro pocket to store the toy cars, and has the child's name embroidered on.

All rolled-up:

How much would you spend on something like this? Any ideas for improvements? ALL HONEST OPINIONS WELCOME!!

(BTW, it's pretty cheap to make, $3 at the most. And it doesn't take me that long. Oh and it's 10" wide and 30" long- not including the pocket part).

How long is "not that long"?

And how much trouble is it for you to get the materials needed?

Just a couple other points to consider.

I would start out at $6 (cost of goods x 2) and then give yourself $8/hr at least.

So if it takes you 1 hour to do it, the STARTING point would be $14.  Maybe even $20.

I agree with babygoinplaces! The question is not only how long it took YOU to make it...it's how long it would take the buyer to make it/how likely they would be to make it on their own. You get to charge for that initiative and the skill you have! Yippee!

Plus, if you make it too cheap, then it will become everyone's favorite gift and you'll be stuck making them for not enough reward. Plan ahead--you are on to something with this! It's so cute, and my great-nephew would like it.

I think $20 is not too much. Good luck!

I agree with what's already been suggested on pricing.

I also had another idea come to me when I saw that adorable mat unrolled with the street and car.  Is there a way to make personalized ones?  For instance, if a kid lives in a court, has a red house and mom & dad have a navy blue car, could you duplicate it?

It doesn't seem like it would be more work, it would just be matching colors and making the street and house placement, etc.

I think that would be such a personal touch and no two would be exactly the same.

Best of luck to you~!

AWWWWWWWWW............... VA!!!!!!!! I loved that when I saw it in the mommy and me swap! Where you did awesome by the way!!!! I would say 20 bucks is enough for you to profit and is an amount that I think anyone would be willing to pay. I wish my kids were younger! They used to love all their cars! Good Luck
