I'm always finding out about awesome flea markets and garage sale type things after the fact. I'm starting this topic as a place where people can find out about these things BEFORE they've happened.

For instance, this weekend I missed a what I was told was a great flea market at the fairgrounds.

And I discovered driving by the fair today that there is a YMCA Garage Sale going on as we speak. I haven't been yet but those are usually pretty good. They sometimes charge you a few bucks to get in though.

Is it the one behind that antique store?  My boyfriend got some broken guitars there which he has since modified into the "shit-tar" and some other "tar"...

Axman is the best...I need to go there and get some jars for my button collection.  I have this vision of a line of jars filled with a rainbow of buttons--like a candy store!  Yum.

I'm hesitant to advertise my favorite crafting thriftstores...I have two good ones in St. Paul I'd be willing to divulge in exchange for info on good thrifts in other parts of the cities...  or better yet we could have a Craftster field trip.  Would anyone be interested?

Does everyone know about Artscraps on Selby?  Another wonderland of crafting goodness, and just an all around fantastic non-profit...they do workshops with kids and things like that.

And the Textile Center annual fabric garage sale should be coming up sometime soon here...

I LOVE Ax Man. That goodwill-by-the-pound place on University can be good too.

Oh, I LOVE artscraps! My mom used to take us there a lot when we were kids and the "fill a grocery bag" was still only $1. How times have changed Sad
Has anyone ever gone to the citywide garage sale in Champlin? It's in May, and it may just be my favorite "holiday". My aunt and my mom and I go to probably 35-45 garage sales that weekend every year! It's crazy the kind of stuff you can find for practically free!

There's a fantastic church sale coming up on 5/5 at a church just off Summit and Dale.  If you're driving on Summit toward downtown St. Paul, there's a sign on the right just past F. Scott Fitzgerald's childhood home.  Can't remember the name of the church...or the street it's on...  them there are poet's directions.   Cheesy

Wow, Catspajamas you really scored!  I'm jealous of your moccasins.

I got this crazy huge quilted dress a few years ago, with a print of black and white rings, very mod.  With pockets!  I wear it whenever I can, which is about once a year when I make up some way to make it part of a costume party costume.

This is a double-wammy church sale weekend!  These are right down the street from one another.  I'm definitely going.  Will I see some of you Craftsters there?

There's a small but nice yard sale at Ashland & Fairview in St Paul - furniture, vintage glassware, silver, a big cool iron candlabra for $20, & misc household - lots of dishes. I passed it walking my dog this morning!

I used to live in Uptown for years (now I live just south of downtown in the Stevens area) and although I grew to detest the Uptown Art Fair there was a fringe benefit.  There is always a plethora of garage sales during this time.  This year's art fair runs from August 3 - 5.

Here is a link with more information:

The St. Anthony Art Festival is tomorrow. It's not a flea market or garage sale but it's fun just the same.   Grin

I live right down the street form the Little Sisters of the Poor (near Fourpaugh's restaurant in St. Paul) and they're having their annual garage sale/silent auction as we speak.  I went last year and it wasn't spectacular, but it is an old folks home so you never know when a vintage treasure might turn up.  I'm heading over there soon, and will report back.

Okay, wow, you guys need to get to Little Sisters of the Poor ASAP!!!  They have LOADS of craft stuff--crochet supplies, patterns for stuffed animals and dolls, buttons, ribbon, books, yarn, cross-stitching....geez I was keeping a mental list and now I can't even remember it all.  Felt!  Lots and lots of felt.  And gift wrap.  Wow.  I just came home with a huge armload of fabric, a full purse and another bag and the grand total was.....$3.25!  So what are you waiting for?  Get over there!  I feel like I should PM everyone.  The sale ends today, and they are pretty much giving the stuff away.

Oops--  330 Exchange St. St. Paul.  It's off of W 7th near Fourpaugh's restaurant and Irvine Park.

By the way, I hijacked a thread over here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=6320.30
to show off some of my funniest finds from the sale.
