Chattanooga, anyone?
«

It seems like all the other major cities in TN are well represented.
I was just wondering how many crafters we have in the Chattanooga area.

i'm moving to the noog about feb 2007. i'm originally from near there, so it's a place i'm quite fond of & spent much of my early 20s bumming around
i'll be moving in with a friend who is a photographer & stained glass artist, also avid camper & bluegrass fanatic. i'm a writer, crocheter, & geek. it's gonna be sublime!
i don't know anything about thrifting in the area, but seems like a saw a couple of LYSs listed online.

Ooh, ooh, me! I'm in Chattanooga, and I definitely wouldn't mind hearing where you guys find good crafty supplies around here!
Anyone do anything with the Chattanooga Market on Sundays downtown? Just curious! I go every now and then, and have seen some sweet stuff!
Oh, and Joybilee, woot for the bluegrass roomie! My family all plays bluegrass around the town so I get that craze.

I'm not sure what took me so long to get on these boards...but, hey, I'm here.
I'm in Chattanooga- long time resident, full time nerd and craftophile.
How awesome would it be to have a Bizzare Bazzare here or a Chattanooga Craft Mafia?
Hee hee....we're way craftier a city than K-ville. I know it!
By the way, for those that don't know it- there's a Stitch n' Bitch at Stone Cup on Tuesdays (if I recall).
Are there any more meetups of the crafty sort around town that you all know of?

Been crafting since I can remember, my grandmother taught me to crochet when I was about 8 or 9 but it took me until last year at 42 to start knitting.

There's a craft show in Chattanooga on May 16-17. They are still looking for quality vendors, too. It will benefit the TN Baptist Children's Home on Lee Hwy. If you are interested, please email Beth Cox at

Have you made it out to Temple yet? They used to have it consistently once a week, but lost their venue, and seem to jump around a little bit, as a lot of clubs in Knoxville are closing and reopening and closing and reopening.
I used to live in Chattanooga
In fact, I was a tour guide at Ruby Falls. Now I live in Lenoir City, which I think is maybe an hour/hour and a half away. Not sure anymore. Is the Pickle Barrel still around?

I am a new time poster, but have been looking at this board for quite awhile. I am here in Chattanooga also, unfortunately this just doesn't seem to be a very crafty town so if anyone knows a great place to get lots of supplies for different kinds of fiber arts projects I would be the happiest person around

I'm in Cleveland too. I have only lived in this area for about 3 years now I think. I don't know anything about this area having to do with Crafts other then the big stores like Hobby Lobby but, I keep hearing about bead stores that no one can ever tell me where it is or anything just that they have heard of one. Do any of you know of a bead store in this area?

I have tried once before to get some of us together to do some crafting, but it has fell through both times....
I am in Chattanooga ( RedBank) and have an apartment that I would be more than happy to host it in, have people over with some snacks and some crafts!!
Or maybe meeting at Northgate area, Books a Million, Barnes and Noble, etc....
anyone interested??

I think I would be. I live out in the Red Bank area as well, so traveling to Northgate or in the general vicinity isn't any trouble. I'm also in East Ridge a ton. perhaps we should take a few weeks to plan something?

I am a newbie knitter too.
. I sew and embroider, and crochet.
. Oh, I also bead.
knitting would be fine with me.....
what dates would be good for you? I am pretty flexible, maybe a Tuesday or Wednesday night? around 7 or 7:30?

I think Tuesdays would be best for me, and that's also a good time frame, 'cause I'm normally off at about 6P. So yes! I just have to dig up my knitting things now. Been very involved in sewing.
Speaking of which, that might push back the date we get to meet up for a bit because I'm working on a large project that has a deadline of the 15th of April. But, I will keep you abreast.

Hi! I live in Chattanooga. My partner & I are opening an all handmade shop in N. Chatt(northshore) Just below Clumpies Ice Cream across from Coolidge park. (more info:
http://leogallery.blogspot.com/
) Once we're open I'd be into hosting an SnB. I'm a seamstress but I'd love to learn how to crochet. I'd also like to host a craft supply swap if anyone is interested.

Next Tuesday sounds great! Right now my schedule is free, so I'll just pencil this in the spot. Seven? Is that an alright time? I don't live far from either downtown or Hixson, depending on which way I leave.
What would we like our choice craft to be? I have some fabric that I need to get cut into squares for patchwork! So...I could definitely bring a load of that to do, 'cause I've been putting it off for about oh....4 months. :[
I'll PM you with some info that might be handy, MEshelltakeone. ^_^ I look forward to this! The beau has a guy's night...and so...I think a craft night would be neat for me to participate in! Are we still up for Tuesdays? I can do Mondays as well.

No problem!
I am pretty open now that LOST and The Office has had their season finales.
.
Monday is Memorial Day, but Thursday sounds great! 7pm is a great time too. Are we still thinking Northgate Books a Million?
hmmmm.... I was thinking of bringing either a knitted (felted) bag/purse or a x stitch thing I am doing for my geeky boyfriend for his bday. But I think you should definitely bring your squares to cut out, if you are like me, I will never do it unless I kind of 'force' myself to, by bringing it to a meeting.
PM me with handy info and I am soooooo looking forward to this!!

Good morning! My name is Les and I am somewhat new to the crafting biz. I kept going into boutique home stores and would think...I can make that...and sell it! So, I'm in the process of buying my supplies, making my wares, and wondering what to do next. I'm getting worried that I'll end up with a guest room filled with stuff. Does anyone here participate in any shows? Any idea if there are any smaller craft shows in the area?

I'm hoping some of the posters to this thread are still in the Chattanooga area. I just moved here a few months ago. So far I LOVE it. What a great city!
I'd like to meet some sewing friends. I also crochet. I've knitted once or twice. I'm interested in learning how to quilt.
I do know of one informal sewing group in the area. I'm currently a member of the local chapter of the American Sewing Guild. Meeting information below. Send me a message for more details. Hope to meet some of you there!
Chattanooga American Sewing Guild Chapter
We will meet the 3rd Tuesday of every month, 6:30-8:30pm, at St. John United Methodist Church.
3921 Murray Hills Drive
Chattanooga, TN 37416
P 423-892-2257
www.stjohnumc.org
In June, we will meet the 2nd Tuesday due to conflicts in schedule with vacation bible school.
******************************************************************************************
First meeting details:
Tuesday, May 17, 2011
6:30-8:30 pm
St. John United Methodist Church
Christian Learning Center room (upstairs)
Program: Meet & Greet and Show & Tell
Bring your favorite book/DVD/notion/fabric, etc. Bring a project you are working on. Bring anything sewing-related.
We will also name our chapter newsletter and discuss formation of smaller neighborhood groups for the purpose of making meetings convenient throughout Chattanooga and allowing special interest groups to form.
Save the date for our June 14th meeting! (We normally meet the 3rd Tuesday, except for June.) June's program will be "Paper Piecing."

I love doing craft shows in the Chattanooga and Cleveland area. I just got accepted to do the Chattanooga Market and was wondering if anyone knows of any good upcoming venues this year. i'm doing the Foothills Country Fair which is a great on for anyone intrested:) plus there's now booth fee which is awesome!
it's in Mcdonald which is in between Ooltewah and Cleveland. I also sell some of my crafts on a cool new website
www.ourvillage.com
you guys should check it out and let me know what u think of my shop:) Cross your heart bows is the name of my shop. I really recommend it for anyone wanting your own website!
