This is a project that has been in the works (with some help from other crafters in the Misc Gift Ideas Brain Blockage board) for a while and I've finally finished.

This is a cigar-style wooden purse. I have removed the wooden handle and made a handle from gold wire and black/green beads. I painted the whole thing to look like the poster for the musical "Wicked" and added gold accents. Its going to be a gift for my SIL (who hopefully isn't on this site!), who really likes the musical (and just saw it!)

The quotes I finally settled on were:

Elphaba's side: "Everyone deserves a chance to fly"

Galinda's side: "You'll be popular, just not quite as popular as me!"

Outside edges: "I do believe I have been changed for the better...Because I knew you...I have been changed for good"

Thanks for everyone who helped!
I'm really happy with how it turned out and I think she will like it!

PS- I also made a smaller version of this for my daughter (who was so jealous of the other one I made!) that I will give her for Christmas. This one only took one evening to finish! Much simpler, but I think she'll be happy! See 3rd photo for the picture of this one! The varnish is still wet, so there are white streaks, but you get the idea!

Excellent painting job.  I like it a lot and I've never even seen wicked (but I've heard it is a fantastic book and show).  Good job.
