I've been searching all the major pattern websites for projects using mohair, and so far I haven't found too many I like.

Here's my "problem" (if having too much yarn can be called a problem!): I recently bought three different colors of a mohair mix and I really want to utilize them all. It's not fingering weight, but since I'm still kinda a newbie I'm not quite sure how to classify it. I used a size 9 needle for a swatch last night and it looked great.

Do you guys have recommendations (that aren't lace patterns or sweaters) that would take advantage of the inherent qualities of mohair? Could I use it for a hat or would it look funny? I'd hate to knit up the whole thing only to find it's too "light" looking. Thanks in advance!!

you can try skrilla knit's Stirling cloche http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=74644.0 it's very simple and cute. The pattern calls for a boucle type mohair but plain mohair should work too. Hope this helps

Thanks! I've admired that pattern for a while, but I never realized I could sub mohair for boucle, having never worked with boucle before. I might just do that pattern, maybe for a Christmas present.

I actually haven't attempted a cardigan yet (someday!) although that one is really cute!

I'm thinking about making a hat and purse, because if I divide the mohair up the right way I think I'll have enough for both Smiley

I know you weren't looking for sweaters, but lots of people are working on this one lately. I have some mohair in my stash that's waiting to be knit in to this cardigan.

I also like the airy scarf from last minute knitted gifts. I've made a few of them.
