hi!  um...thats a really general question but i'll do my best to answer.  i'm 27, married with a baby boy.  i work as a nanny and as a server (at applebee's), and i go to fsu and tcc in pursuit of degrees in psychology and marketing.  i love to read novels, listen to music, watch tv, hang out with my family and friends.  and, obviously, i love to craft!  you can see the last few things i made here by searching my name.  ok thats all i can think of.  oh, and my husband and i live off micosukee, between the hospitals....what part of town are yall in?

I live pretty close to the Ocala and Tennessee intersection, real close to FSU. My boyfriend and I are both grad students there. I mostly just hang out, go to school, and do a little crafting when I can. Right now it's mostly knitting.

there's also a tallahassee radical stitch n bitch at the C.A.M.P. (community art mobilization project) monday nights (8 or 9 ish to 11 or 12 ish).  That's 663 Industrial Drive in Railroad Square.  All crafters are welcome.  It was started very recently by diyrulzduh (he's effin' awesome).  We usually have food, too.

I keep telling myself I am going to go to the OTHER SNB that meets Thursday, but my work schedule has been insane. I hop eto meet fellow crafters soon!  Grin

I'm sort of new to this whole SnB thing so I have a BUNCH of questions!  Is it just knitting and crocheting or can an embroidery devotee (for lack of a better phrase) such as myself join in? Also, I work a variety of hours so I may show up once and then not again for a few weeks or maybe months....depending on the time of year and the "meeting" time and day. I wouldn't want to show up once and have people think I'm rude by not showing up again. I am just so hesitant to "join" anything since I cannot guarantee regular participation. So I am a solo closet crafter.  But, it would be GREAT to craft with others!

So what's the Tallahassee scoop?  What's out there? At this point I don't care where people meet at long at it has air! My God! Is is freakin' Hot!

We don't have a/c at the C.A.M.P., but there is A/C at All Saints Cafe.  I'm going to be teaching the d.i.y./radical fashion class again in the fall, and it should be a lot more comfortable, but we can always move to All Saints.  The class is free, in cooperation with C.P.E. (the center for participant education) but it will be taught at the C.A.M.P. in railroad square.  Dates have still not been announced, but check out a cpe catalog when they come out.
Usually snb's are knitting/crocheting, but rarely will someone kick you out if you're doing a different craft.  At our SnB, sometimes DIYRULZDUH wouldn't do any stitching, he'd just bitch!

Heya!  Do you mostly work in fibers or other crafts? I knit sporadically and probably couldn't follow a pattern out of a box if I tried. It's on my to-do list.  Roll Eyes

I do a little bit of everything.  Beading, embroidery, home decorating things, some sewing recently, decopodge, mosaic's...etc.

I have done just a couple of polymer clay projects. http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=92279.0 So I'm VERY new at that! I think it is really cool! Until Craftser I really thought all you could do with it was make these goofy things I saw on these tragic daytime TV craft shows! Boy was I wrong!

You can see a good smattering of my crafty goodness in these:
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=92257.0

I just started felting. I have only felted three soaps but it's fun. I have to say I'm completely obsessed with felting! Which is strange since I'm allergic to wool!

My knitting is SAD!  I have been working on a dog sweater for my sister's Jack Russell for almost a year! I can't read a knitting pattern without my copy of "Knitting for Dummies!"

Basically, I give just about anything a fair shot. I just like to be creative.

Heheheh there are a few of us around. It just seems that we aren't very organized as a crafty community yet. Perhaps we can change that!

Oooh, is it a nice yarn store? I saw it recently -while going home- and just wanted to dive out of the car!

I'm also a Tally craftster, it's cool to see that there are so many others out there. I knit, crochet, sew, spin, embroider, cross stitch, occasionally make chainmaile jewelery, and play with mud, (i.e. I love pottery!) I pretty much dabble in anything that looks interesting! (Heh, Jill of all trades, Mistress of none.)

Yeah, it's great!  The woman who owns it rocks (and is very sweet too) and she sells mainly sweatshop-free and recycled/earth friendly/sustainable yarn (i.e. bamboo yarn, stuff made by hand or in the US, with natural dyes, etc).  She also hosts craft classes from time-to-time (like Needle Felting and what-not).

OOOOOOO she has classes in needle felting!?  I am totally obsessed with felting! HHhmmm guess where I'm going at lunch today....that is if it isn't raining and I can walk there.  I work in the Turlington building (aka DOE aka the lipstick building) so Wooly Bully is only a couple of blocks from my office!

There are! Try Tallahassee Decorative Fabrics. It's on Thomasville rd down the street from JoAnn's. It is in the beige plaza kind of sort of across the street from the sing store just past Betton on the left. I love this store it is so organized and calm! I go in and walk around just for inspiration.  Cheesy

There is also Crystalis fabrics in Market Square. It is on Timberlane rd almost next door to the Talbots and across the street from Old Town Cafe. You have to really look for it to see it. They have a GREAT sale room! I pop in there on a regular basis just to check their clearance section. Otherwise they are expensive....great fabric but expensive.

There is also a quilt store that stocks a good bit of fabric on Capital Circle next to the car wash and sort of across the street from the federal women's prison. It is not quite on the corner of Capital Circle and Park, it is on a little side street between park and the car wash. I get my embroidery stabilizer there. They have a huge selection of stabilizers!

I hope this helps!

Thanks for the info!! I'll have to check those places out when I get back this week Smiley I knew there had to be other places out there hehe.

Another quick question...where do you get your embroidery templates, like the CD's that have the designs on them and what not?

Glad I could help!

I don't do any machine embroidery. I do a good bit of hand embroidery. I pretty much use sublime stitching patters or make my own.
