I have made one of these! I did the holes a different way than you suggested, though. Instead of drilling through the actual scrabble piece, I found some tiny screw in hooks and screwed them into the piece. That way, the pieces dangle around....*loves dangly bracelets*. I'll have a rummage and see if I can find it to take a picture and post.

You don't even have to use a drill and just use a backing of some sort... love the look, the first time I saw it was on http://udandi.com

in case anyone has had the same problem finding scrabble games i have-

after searching thrift stores constantly for three months looking for scrabble games to use the tiles from, i discovered that you can order a complete set from the Hasbro site for pretty cheap. duh!

even so, by the time i figured this out, the hanukah present i was making was extremely late, so i ended up using scrabble stickers i bought in the scrapbooking section at target when we went down to the states. they're much smaller, but they're made out of balsa wood, so they look like real miniture tiles. very cool! except for the fact that balsa wood is very light, so they floated in the resin when i tried to make coasters. they still look cool, but i should have waited until i ordered the real ones.

anyway, that was really ramble-y. all i planned to say is order them from the hasbro site.

This site sells scrabble tiles 10 for $1.00. You can request the letters you want. They have lots of cool stuff too. I have never ordered from it so I can't vouch for customer service, excetra but seems crafter friendly.

I was going to suggest that when I first started reading this thread!

AWESOME PROJECT!  I use Scrabble tiles and the gameboards to make bulletin boards.  I usually find them at thrift stores, but when I run out and need a fix I get  a complete set of tiles (without the board) from Hasbro.com.  Good luck everybody!

I recently started making these bracelets.  And I thought for a minute I had an original idea.  Dolt.  Anyway, I bought a dremel and used a tiny tiny drill bit to make two holes through each tile.  They don't crack or anything.  Well, the drill bit kind of smokes up a bit; I think it's the type of wood and the depth to go through the side of the tile.  Great bracelets though!

Go to the scrabble site (www.scrabble.com) and you can buy a set of replacement letters directly from them for a few dollars if you can't find a used game somewhere.

I'd swear that I Have/Had the same idea. Take one of those big Mother-fill-in-the blank needles, poke holes through each of the letters (I was thinking of two to each piece) & Thread together (along with any other beads you wish to add.) with some clear elastic thread. But then I had the idea of instead constructiung a Scrabble Letter Charm bracelet,  Posted here http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=5289.0. I may still use the previous idea.
