Ok, so I was going to sew something, because that's my preferred medium, but I decided to go with origami instead.  Smiley This little guy is modular origami, meaning that he's several pieces folded separately and then held together with other folds. That's right, he's held together with nothing but folds.  Grin Well, with the exception of the heart on his chest, and the wire on his head, which are both held on with red glitter hot glue. Oh glitter hot glue is FUN!

This is what I started with...

For those of you counting, that's 29 little boxes. And I ended up having to paint the red ones, cause the smallest ones were too hard to make out of the thick red paper.

My bare bot...

gotta have a trial run to make sure he fits together correctly.

And my final piece. I hope you all enjoy him. I'm gonna put him into a shadow box and put him up on my wall.  Smiley

Take me to your lover....I mean, leader!  Grin

Thanks! My mom told me I should make him a mate, I said, "No thanks! This one took me 2 days of folding to finish!" lol But modular origami is my favorite. They make great Christmas ornaments.  Smiley

You know I actually thought about that last night. I was laying in bed and it woke me up, "I forgot to put his dimensions up." lol

He's approximately 8" tall (not counting the antenna on top), 6" wide and his smallest cube (fingers, eyes and mouth) is just over 1/4".  Grin

That's how I got into origami. Working a job that made me just sit, so I started to fold to keep my hands busy. lol Yes, you're right, too much time on my hands.  Wink

What a great idea for origami boxes.  I love to make boxes by the designer "Fuse".  Have you figured out the Rose Cube yet?

Love it! My BIL does origami. I can't even fold a straight line, so I have much respect for ya.

Thanks. I think it takes a certain amount of perfectionist and OCD and not to mention patience! But the end result is so rewarding.  Smiley
