That looks great! Did you do finger waves??
Yes, just in the wet hair in front - no setting lotion - and held with big bobby pins until it air dried.

I followed some of the links in here, and had a go at pin-curls tonight - wow! My hair has always gone limp in minutes using a curling iron, but these seem much more sturdy. Do you have any advice for sleeping on curls? Would a turban type thing reduce how much they got squished?

I used to do pincurls a LOT more often than I do now - must be a time factor. Whenever I actually do a modeling gig though, the hair goes up in pincurls the night before. I have EXTREMELY straight hair, that won't hold curl for anything - except for pincurls.
Happychick : I use a BIG chiffon-style scarf that I got from the thrift shop to tie up my pincurls before I sleep - a la Rosie the Riveter style. It allows air to pass through for drying, and helps keep everything tidy. I also highly recommend letting your hair air dry until it's just slightly damp before doing the pincurls, so that it will dry completely when you sleep.
*Edit* I just have to add that this thread is to die for. Loving it!!
Anywho: I'm interested in trying hot rollers but have no idea where to start. Anyone recommend a good style of roller or brand?

aah, ive just invested in some remington heated rag curlers because i like rag curls/pin curls but hate having to wait for ages til my hair dries so ive found that with these, i wash me hair, dry it until it is almost completely dry then i use these rollers in for about half an hour or however long i have and i get great curls that actually stay in, plus they are fushia coloured, heheh
