Digging through my gramma's stash, I found a bunch of this vintage barkcloth. The story is that it's what was left over from making cushions for patio furniture from when my mom was about 5 or 6.

So I made a very simple, but gigantic tote out of it. Nice long straps to go over the shoulder, faux tortoise shell button with loop to close, lined with a buttery lemon denim. One big pocket, another divided into 3 smaller compartments.

Ignore the crooked topstiching. Tongue Here you can see how gigantic the bag is. That's two full size 1-subject spirals, with tons of room leftover. Zippered thing in the big pocket is the totally awesome globe pencil case Dewey made for me in the Office Supply swap. (Check the gallery!)

Thanks for checking it out! Smiley

love the fabric! I wish my grandma left fabric. I have her sewing box and I found clothing labels with my uncle's names on them which she must have sewed into their clothes Smiley
Good job Smiley

Thank you for the comments! Smiley I still have a good bit of fabric left over, so I'm gonna make a zippered puch, wallet, tissue holder, etc accessories to go with it.

I just talked her into sending me another box full of goodies. She has a loft above my grandfather's woodshop about the size of a small 1 bedroom apartment with probably a hundred banker's boxes full of fabric... It's insane... Going there is like Christmas - I pack an extra suitcase just to stock up on goodies.

Love it. I need to make a big, useful bag. The only place I can find vintage fabrics is at my thrift stores and they're never they really cool looking ones.

Maybe I'll luck out. I really like the size you made it.
