The Double Bass Project

So my boyfriend, Tim, got a violent shove into Rockabilly-ness ((hurrah to me)) and has decided he wants his very own double bass.

We bought a plain 'shell' i guess you'd call it from Ilja Grawert ((a violinmaker in the Gabba)) for just under a thousand. It was bigger than we thought and more sturdy which is two good things!

Yesterday we went to Bunnings to pick out paint. Tim has decided to paint it gloss black with green leopard print sides. He needs more practice with his leopard printing so at the moment he's painting leopard-spots on my new flowerpot.

Anyway, he started the undercoat last night and has done the first coat of the black this morning. He loves itmore than me which is fine because then i can flip through as much craftster as i want!!









So far so good!

i think it is even more rad (because i like to say more rad as opposed to real english) that he is personalizing it. SO AWESOME!!!

i have ALWAYS loved the custom ones. not that i have seen many but none the less. yes. greatness.

i think the bassist from the living end has bass a little like that only its ska checks rather than leopard print (tho the leopard is way more original!)

awesome!!  Would it ruin the sound at all if instead of paint, he used fur with leopard print on it? that'd look pretty cool with some fuzzy fur

Ah. I love double bass's! I have an awesome picture somewhere...oh here it is. And I see someone up there already mentioned The Living End! Awesome.
