i made these charms out of shrink plastic (it trades as shrinkle in the UK and shrink-dink in the US, try your local craft store!), i think they're pretty effective, especially the silver ones which i sprayed with enamel paint.

hope you like  Grin

Oh, dear mother of pearl!

As an avid shrink-plastic charm maker and lover I do know my way around shrinky dink stuff *honk-honk my own horn* and I must say that your charms are stunning! So well made and perfect in all ways, one can really tell you've put a lot of work into these (and as Lava means love already said: your cutting skills are awesome). I'm totally impressed and very much in love with your style (maybe because I myself have impeccable taste *honk-honk*). Cheesy Love kitschy plastic stuff...

One question though - did you print out the designs or draw them? (with say, Sharpies. I so am getting myself some Sharpies - thank lord for the internet!)

Your charms are SO AWESOMELY COOL!
Kiss

ETA: Just had to add: I love the deer horns!

Nifty!

Shrinky plastic is light enough that it'd probably be a good medium for earrings. Have you tried those too?

i use pencil to trace the designs then rub out the marks after i've cut. and yea, the cutting takes a LOT of time and effort!

Beautiful!
Seriously cool stuff.
Your nameplate looks ever so professional!
Did you use coloured shrinkies or colour them in yourself?!
-x-

(I don't have much experience with shrinkies...
in fact not really sure what they are or where to get them in the UK?!)

they look fantastic.

Pick-N-Mix - they're sold under the brand name shrinkles over here in the UK. You can probably get them in a craft store. Somewhere big like hobbycraft will definitely do them. Or let me know if you can't find any,  we could always do a personal swap and I'll send you some Smiley

we shrinky dink users should buy stock in the company. I know I've gone through a lot already.

Those look great, I bet cutting out your name was a pain. x-actos don't work too well which makes it difficult to get a lot of detail.

I hand draw each on with micron pens. Then I use watercolor pencils to shade, add water to soften them. It's always fun to see how the color will react when it shrinks. Sometimes they look so much better shrunken.

Quick question: for the silver ones... did you spray them with paint before or after you shrunk them?

Very impressive, as is all of your work.  Were you using white shrinky dink?
Also, how are the watercolor pencils holding up? I've never heard of using them as a shrink plastic medium

Wow - your stuff is really gorgeous.
It looks very professionally done.
I'm somewhat confused though - I recently tried shrinkydinks and it said in the packaging not to use water-based anything - water colour pencils or paints, even crayola markers? Also it said to be sure to use an alcohol base pen. Micron's are archival ink, aren't they?
Not trying to argue your technique, just wondering if you did run into any troubles with the colour staying. I'd like to get good at these things Smiley

I'm not the original poster but I thought I"d offer some answers in case it helps.
I finally got some And I love markers on them. The colors do become more vibrant when they shrink but I haven't had issues with the markers rubbing off.
I have had issues with my colored pencils scratching or rubbing off though. I had a small dog charm I made that became white eyes instead of having pupils!
I do find that I have better control with the colored pencils though so there are pro's and con's to each. I'd do an experiment and see which you like better!
