I decided I wanted to be a vampire this year.. Not too great with makeup though

Then my boyfriend had a fit because there were no ninja turtle costumes in adult sizes. Jenn to the rescue:

I didn't even know I was going to get to dress up until the night before, so I scrambled to put something together. My friends are always making fun of me for being the "ultimate lightweight" so I decided I would turn it into a costume.

I bought the blue leotard at a thrift store. For the silver sequin bottle, I cut out a liquor ad, used the bottle as a guide to cut out a piece of fabric, and then applied a whole lot of hot glue and sequins. I made the cape out of skirt someone gave me that I knew I would never wear but I keep anyway. Ha! It did come in handy! The fishnets are actually thigh highs that I pinned up to the leotard.

I went as "Snakes on a Plane" (from the uber cheesy movie that came out earlier this year).

I did Iron-on pics down the sides of the shirt to represent windows of the plane. The first passenger is Samuel L Jackson and the quote from the movie is coming from him. The other passengers are members of the band I saw last night (they had a big halloween concert where everyone dressed up).

I used foam for the tail, wings and propeller cap. Glued rubber snakes all over them. Attached the wings to my arms with elastic and used bobby pins to keep the beanie on. Made a duct tape skirt to look kinda like the metallic underbelly of a plane. And even made a white duct tape purse to go with. I drew wheels on it and said it was my landing gear Smiley  It was a lot of fun to wear and easy to dance in or take off if I needed.
My friend went as a Hooters girl. I made her plate of hot wings using crayola model magic and acrylic paint. I attached elastic to the bottom so she didn't have to hold it. Unfortunately, by the end of the night, a bunch of the wing "tips" had broken off by being smooshed up against her fake boobs! I'll have to repair them before we go out on the 31st!!

here's a shot where you can kinda see the purse. I used file fasteners as closure

All Hail the Tiki God!

Me and the hubby.

I made the mask out of papier mache.  I got the plumage on sale at a craft store.  The shirt was his.

The dress was kind of thrown together.  I wasn't about to go anywhere in a coconut bra and a grass skirt, so I made myself a muumuu (my first attempt at making a dress).  Smiley

The spear is cardboard, duct tape, and raffia.

The leis and his skirt were bought.

Lots of fun to make!  Thanks for looking!
