Check out this shawl!!!  you can order the pattern from the designer (web2 AT aurora-alpacas DOT com for info) (and she is super fast about replying and whatnot).  i've started knitting the shawl, and i thought that my fellow craftsters would get a kick outta the pattern.

it's a fantastic and very involved pattern ... Sharon (the designer) is very nice and very fast to respond to emails.  the pattern costs $12 directly from her.

I am blown away by this shawl.  I suspect, though, that it would not be my best choice for a first lace project. (Not counting fingerless gloves...)
