here's all my loot!

yarn from madmatigan79, painted votive holder from ooak_diva, felted bead kit from knitwit, leaf press from poppysmum, beaded amulet bag from muria, lip gloss from psyche, t-shirt from sneeg, pirate turtle from sarah- and in the middle, spooky tree earrings and necklace set from atsuko and the stuffed bat from Mikaiyawa.

i feel spoiled! thanks so much everyone!

EDIT: thanks alwaysinmyroom! i missed your question at first - nope, the cats aren't glued! they're just sandwiched between layers of vinyl! if they move around too much, or if any of the confetti moved around in mailing, they can be wiggled back into place!

madmatigan--can you tell me how you can dye a wool yarn without felting it up?  I am in love with your yarn--I am going to probably try my hand at making a panta!!

Sorry alwaysinmyroom! I missed this question in my eagerness to see pics of everyone's goodies!

I used the following tutorials (knitty, the piper) and then sort of experimented to see which way worked for me. In the past, I have just used my regular cooking pots to dye yarn on the stove (Kool Aid is non-toxic, so it is alright) - this time, I used my mom's old canner - I used pickle jars and mixed a different colour in each, put them in the canner on the stove (filled about 1/2 way with water once I set the jars in). I let the yarn soak in warm water in the sink for about 20 minutes while I let everything on the stove heat up slowly. Once your Kool Aid dye is almost boiling, dip the yarn in and TURN DOWN THE HEAT to let things simmer.

The biggest thing is making sure that you don't shock the wool with extreme changes in heat (it seems like the hot water is alright as long as you let the yarn warm up & cool down gradually). Also, use as LITTLE agitation as possible. In order to get an even colour, you have to move the yarn around a little bit while it is in the dye - to do this, I just used the end of a wooden spoon and GENTLY poked at the yarn every so often.

As with everything, experimentation is the key! Smiley There is also a super long thread about this subject on the knitting board so check that out for more tips or feel free to pm me if you have any specific questions about the whole Kool Aid dye process.
