If you were to, let's say, decorate your house to look like a biohazard lab that "blew up" - what would you do?

Current ideas from me are:

-rain barrels on the front lawn filled with dry ice and lights.
-jars filled with flour labelled "Anthrax"
-cages filled with glowing plastic rats.
-"x-rays" printed on transparencies hung around the house.

Ideas from my friend, Travis:

-fake deformed babies in jars (i'm guessing you'd use fake, but its your soul haha)
-broken gas mask/haz mat suits lying about (cuz not everyone was working at the time of the explosion)
-broken containers with lids nearby saying random ridiculous viruses (smallpox/bubonic)

More idea please!

I would get some strobe lights and blare some siren-sounding music or something.
You could also try mixing flour with a bit of water and glow in the dark paint and you'll end up with this weird glowing slime stuff to play with.
The whole Biohazard idea is amazing though.  Smiley

Hm.. I'd say take a watch on a couple zombie-ish films. I just watched one: Return of the Living Dead um... 5? Anyway, the subtitle was "Necropolis". I wouldn't generally recommend it, it wasn't exactly top-quality (ha), but it did have a very good destroyed lab setting...

One thing that came to mind were giant "jars" with life-size robot-zombie-things in them. Stuffed costumes would work.

And they also had a biological warfare room! With lots of weapons, and ex-people made into weapons.... ha....

Anyway, excuse my running on, it's getting late. But the idea sounds great, and I'ld love to see pictures after it's done!

Supply guests with those SARS masks? If you can get your hand on some sharps bins, those would be cool too, empty of course (the red biohazard bins for putting needles and things on) for things like chips or candies.
Petri dishes?
other sciencey paraphenalia, anything goes.
Gak in bowls/oozing out of tipped over containers? I'd put something down under it, so it doesnt stick to your furniture though. And it's something you can interact with to some extent. I'd personally label those as well.

I have to say, I LOVE this idea. I'm studying now so that I can hopefully work in one of these labs, and this is so so cool.

Thank you, everyone for your awesome ideas. I'm so excited for the decorations in the house and this party. I wish you all lived in Edmonton so you could come.

I will post pictures after Halloween.

Blood. It is considered biohazardous waste!

You could bring out some red garbage cans with lids. They are used for biohazardous waste.

There should be plenty of rubber/latex gloves around too! Make them standard issue at the party!

it would be good to keep it in the feel of a lab with some posters and beakers and such.

bare green lightbulbs.

plastic sheeting on walls and covering furniture and stuff to go for that  quarentined zone look
if you do this you could make the sheeting opaque/translucent and put some lights behind it (christmas lights!) and then pait the back side of the sheet with like faces and stuff so they sort of kind of show through...

caution tape is a must.

ah but the problem is that i'm pretty sure fresh spinach still isn't allowed to be sold in the u.s. (oh those darn ecoli) if that's where you are kristie...
spinach would look better if it was the kind that was steamed or canned and then you dried it out and srung/stuck it on things.
