Ok, this is my attempt to make a tutorial. Basically it's a Jordy bag that I made in to a small handbag. Since my english is'nt the best I used Jordy's totorial to help me make mine.

Thanks Jordy, hope you don't mind...
Here's the original link http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=7866.0

So here goes:

1) This is the pattern for the small handbag.

2) Cut your fabric. You'll need outer fabric, lining fabric, interfacing and two straps, mine was 10 x 32 cm or 4" x 12". If you want, some velcro to close the bag.

3) Press your straps and stitch both sides.

4) Fold your outer fabric. Pin and stitch together the two sides. Good sides should be facing each other.

5) Pinch together the corners of the fabric and stitch both sides.

6) For the lining, fold and stitch together two sides. Cut the bottom to make a big opening. Make sure it's inside out, good sides facing each other. If you're using velcro, add here.

7) Lay the straps inside the inside-out outer fabric.

8 ) Lay the lining inside the outer fabric, match up the tops and pin. Make sure the good sides are facing each other.

9) Stitch all the way around.

10) Pull the entire bag inside out.

11) For the bottom of the lining you cut up earlier, fold, pin and stitch together.

12) Pinch the corners as you did on the outer fabric, and stitch together.

13) Now for the last step. Stitch all the way around the top of the bag.

14) Voil! You're done!!

Good Luck! //Klinga

Uuuuu Very nice!
I hate dial up! It took so long for the last picture to load and figure out what in heavens you were doing  hehe

Hmm, a question though. Will this same technique apply if I want to make a bag but with the top longer than the bottom. As in yours, but "upside down"Huh  Just alter the pattern a bit?

Perhaps?

Very cute, these would be so cute as party favors at a little girls birthday, it could be a fun activity to where the girls can decorate their bags with flower, buttons etc.

4Eyes, can i ask how much you paid for your purse? It would be very interesting to know! I would love to see it!
dyabolica, thats a perfect idea!  The size would be wright for a little girl, since it's so small.
Tempost, thanks and i hope you try, its really not hard at all.
losingstreak, thank you! If you make one, can you post it here? Love to see your work!

My purse is a few years old  but I think it was around $30cndn.  On closer examination, its not as similar as I thought...bigger and kinda turned upside down like magnolia mentioned.  I don't have a pic at the moment but I can get one

I had a hard time w/the lining -- once I had cut open the bottom and after I'd turned the bag rightside out, I pressed and sewed the lining and it's much smaller than the bag. Boo-urns...What did I do wrong?

Well, it is a small handbag Wink  But I think it is a good size...mine turned out about 8 in across the top, by 7.5 inches deep, and 9.5inches across the bottom.

For my first version of this one, I don't think it turned out too bad.  The material is a shiny type of something and the print was already on there, it's not beaded.  Oh, and the teddy bear was just a prop.  LOL  I even put a zippered pocket inside, first time I've put in a zipper in too many years.  The tutes on this site really helped me  Only thing is the lining turned out a little funky when I finished up so I may do it a little differently next time.  The size was a little small for my taste too, I need to work on that.  Enjoy and let me know what you think.

That's so funny, I apparently missed this post the first time  because I was in the car driving cross country at the time--and no wireless internet in sight.

ANYWAY, what a great tutorial.  Thank you for taking the time to post it (it takes for-ever!).  Sweet bag design.

And good job little weasel, that looks excellent.

You inspired me to make one too.. I used black cordory for the outside, and dalmation print for the lining so I  can use it for work.

Hi there, thanks for this great tutorial.
I (a man) made this bag too (with the help of my mother .. Wink).

Here is the result http://electricroom.carbonmade.com/projects/2090090#1
The outer fabric is Display Banner on which I printed the pattern in a Copy-Shop.
Stitching took 3hours ..  I hope we'll be faster next time Smiley
