Hi all - There's so much great info in this thread, I'm so glad I found it!

We literally just moved to Wichita (We're at Panera right now using the wireless and having a break from unpacking the moving truck!).

We can't wait to get settled and start discovering the area...

Someone mentioned Urban Arts and Crafts...can't reccommend that more!
Heads up:  Urban Arts + Craft moved to north of the River, to the new Briarcliff Village area.  I haven't been up there...seems sooooo faaaar from Prairie Village!  Would love to hear about the new location if anyone goes to check it out.

In Manhattan, KS there is a great thrift store called The Grand Old Trunk. It is a huge shed-type building with tons of tables completely covered in everything you can imagine. It's huge, so you have to dig, but I've found some absolutely amazing stuff there for dirt cheap.

And in Newton, one of my other "hometowns" there is a great little shop called The Beadery with tons of unique beads at very reasonable prices. I think they also give lessons there and they're really nice.

I'm heading up there this weekend....I have to admit I'm a little upset that "Urban" Arts and Crafts would go suburban, but maybe they won't have lost their awesomeness.  I'll post a full report!

Please do!  I still haven't ventured up to Briarcliff Village, but perhaps your "eyewitness report" will convince me to give it a go!

Mission Thrift in Wellington is on Washington street across from the Mexican restaurant  (between 8th and 9th street?).  They don't have regular hours 9-1 I think.  Live in the same town but never seem to make it over there when they are open.
I haunt the Goodwill in Wichita.  Regularly go to the ones on Broadway and Central.   On occasion go to the DAVs and Salvation Army.  Over the weekend I went to two Goodwills and two DAVs and found some good bargains.  Not too many of them crafty though.
I go the the Goodwill in Arkansas City a lot too because my vet is there and my poor old cat has health problems.  I also LOVE going to the Chinese restaurant in that "shopping center"

I've gone to the Salvation Army in Ark City. It's been pretty nice since they fixed it up.

Haven't been there in a while.  Guess I'll have to mosey on down next time I need to get cat food for my cat.

Well, I'm glad you're not buying dog food for the cat.
