My mom used to do the melting thing.  Here's how she did it: Just clean the container and put it on some tin foil on a baking sheet in a low oven.  It melts down to a kind of glob.  If you want inclusions, put beads or whatever in it before it goes into the oven.  Take it out and poke a hole for hanging while it's still soft.

This was back in the days of clear pill containters; today you'll get amber-colored ornaments.

Have fun!

If someone tries this, please take and post pics!  I want to see what this looks like (and I don't have any pill containers!)

You would melt them to make ornaments?

Try covering the pill bottle in fabric or mod podge something onto it, then glue a magnet on the back, it makes a great pen holder for the frig. Smiley

It's a slightly different version from an idea I got here:

Has anyone tried to make candles out of them like at aromapharmacy.com? If I had 20 bucks to burn - it would be for one of these!

Or fill them with jelly beans, mints, etc. and paste on your own cute label to give!

If the pill containers are plastic I wouldn't put candles in them to burn, the container would melt; if the lid opening is wide enough, however, you could stack a few tealights inside and decorate the outside. They would make great little Valentines or romance kits. Wink

Kiss I've used pill containers for home made lip balm. There are lots of recipes online. I just made up my own. Using Bees Wax, Alovera Oil, Sunflower oil, Vitamin E, and 100% pure essential oil.  I then gave them out as gifts.
