old coin + several hours = a ring

we were trying to come up with unique ideas for groomsmens gifts.  i found directions on how to make these online and thought i would try it out myself.  this is the first one i made i'm pretty happy with it.

yeah there are two that i found the first is http://homepage.mac.com/johnhuber/CoinRing/PhotoAlbum20.html and the second which is pretty much the same but shows how to make it with a spoon is http://www.i-am-bored.com/bored_link.cfm?link_id=9878.  I don't have the patience to use a spoon but the guy at the coin shop said that legend is these were originally made by prisoner's with few materials and a lot of time on their hands.  thus the spoon.  Use coins with at least 90% silver otherwise you will be pounding for the next year

I used to have a ring that my dad made out of a dime when he was high school. Sadly, I lost it.

That is CRAZY/awesome.  I'm going to have to go through my dad's tools and try to find some of the supplies to make one of those.  The end result is gorgeous!

I wouldn't worry about the illegal thing. Whilst it is techinically no-one really cares. Plus we even have those penny stretching machines so I'm sure you wouldn't get in trouble for it.
