I made these for some wee ones having birthdays this week.  They are both free patterns.  I got the books at the local Bargain! Shop.

pattern at http://web.archive.org/web/20030414021242/www.generatordesign.com/kitty.html  I made the ears two layers sewn together to suit the colour scheme I needed, and added a tail, too.  I also made a yellow hat with the purple and pink ears for the little birthday girl.

pattern at http://www.angelfire.com/art2/oasisguild/news2_5.html#pattern  This is my second elephant.  I had trouble figuring out how to sew the face together the first time.  This one has it right.

So cute and great for 'acting out' stories!  My lack of dpn experience is also holding me back...

No stress about DPN's -- both these toys are knit flat!!!  Go on, give it a try!

A tip for the elephant -- don't sew it up like the instructions... do the ends of the leg part and the belly, then the bum and sides of the legs, stuff it through the face and sew up the face.
