I'll see what I can do!  Do you want to see Tut or just the rest of the museum?  (Tut will be $10 no matter what I can fudge... I can't even get family in for free!)

Wow! Modapalooza! You should make it a national tour! Come visit the Twin Cities! We heart our mods!!  Kiss

Well heck, if you'd go to the Twin Cities, ye best make a triangle of it and go to Des Moines!

I wish that weren't the weekend of 17 things happening, or I'd make the trip! I'd love to meet all y'all!

Hey Chicago peeps. What do you all think of me setting up a combo "book sigining" and "Craftster hang out" thing at Quimby's? http://www.quimbys.com/ Is Quimby's easy to get to and does it have space to hang out?

Quimby's is easy to get to on transportation, but is pretty small. I'm sure if you call they can give you their seating specs. As far as renting a car, DON'T DO IT!!! If you are staying downtown, all the locations that I mentioned are extremely easy to get to on the blue line. You can check out the "trip planner" feature at http://rtachicago.com/ for specifics. You type in the exact address where you are starting from, and your destination address. It gives you a lot of options (fastest time, least transfers, etc.) for getting around. No need for a map or anything! I've lived in Chicago my whole life (city, not the suburbs!) and I have only driven a car once or twice since I got my license 5 years ago. You can get from downtown to the Wicker Park/Bucktown/Ukranian Village area in about 15-20 minutes on the train. Quimby's is right in the center of Wicker Park.

A few of us are driving our cars to get to Chicago, but I don't think any of us plan to rent a car - thank goodness!  Once we get to our hotel, we aren't getting back in our car either!  Hehe.

If you guys want tickets for the weekend (the 14th or 15th) I'll need to know ASAP. They sell like hotcakes for the weekends and I can only pull so many strings.  If you can come on Friday it shouldn't be a problem, though.  How should we hash this out?

I think (Vanillaxlight will confirm) we were trying for Sunday morning for that event.
