Ok... I guess the title says it all. When I do cables, I have big ugly holes beside them. I really don't know what to do about it, and I want to make a pretty cabled hat. Now... I did see in Walmart, believe it or not, where they had a cabled sweater that had holes beside it that looked intentional, and kinda good. But that's not really the effect I want with this hat... mainly because I need a good winter hat, and the holes would'nt work so well. Thank y'all!:)

Do you have a picture to show us what you mean?

Since cables are generally set off by purl stitches, you could try cleaning up the look by wrapping your purl after the cable the opposite way you do now, or purl it through the back leg to twist it.

I wish I did. I'm not at home right now/don't have needles and yarn with me to show it.. but... it's like there's a run between the cable and the next stitch, like the purl stitch right beside the cable is loose. I'll try your suggestions, thank you.Smiley

If it's a loose purl, then yeah, try wrapping it clockwise.  That should tighten it right up.  Grin
