well, i was asked for a tutorial for my cover i made for the bag challenge a while ago. so here it is (click on the links for bigger pix):

materials:
vinyl
scalpel/xacto
lining fabric
scissors
chord(as big as you want your piping)
sewing machine (i guess ur hands could do it, but it'd b hard!)
iron (for seaming)
a zipper
image of what you want your cut out peice to look like

then you should have something that looks like this (in structure at least):

please ask questions and comment if you feel so inclined.

eeek!  That is awesome and looks SO difficult... for me anyway because I almost sewed my hands together once.

hmmm....maybe if i bribe my friend she will make it for me... I can crochet, knit, sew a straight line, use a sewing maching in "Theory" but adding the hot glue would definately cause bodily harm.

dam!  Ah Well.....Thanks for the tute!

This looks so professional. I love the bird cutout. Great Job!

Was it hard to sew thru all of the layers?

psoupdesigns - no actually. the hardest bit was lining up the zipper so it would close properly when it was sewn to the cover. because i chose vinyl, fabric and a zipper that were all thin, i didnt have much problem with sewing through them.
